Caresource Foundation recently awarded United Rehabilitation Services (URS) a grant for $15,000 to support a Sensory Integration Program for the center’s Special Needs Childcare Center.

With the growing trend in the number of children diagnosed with Autism and other Sensory Processing Disorders, URS will enhance the classroom setting with sensory-rich equipment and provide in-depth training by its Therapy Team to educate the teachers in the classroom on incorporating the new Sensory Integration Program.

URS’ childcare services allow the Lead Teachers and classroom staff to work closely with onsite Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists to incorporate treatment goals into the children’s daily routines.

The Special Needs Childcare Center at URS serves children, six weeks through 18 years of age, who have a variety of disabilities, developmental delays, cognitive issues, limited mobility, and other disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Down syndrome, brain injury and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The center has its Second “STAR” (of a possible three) as part of the Ohio’s Step up To Quality Program, a voluntary Quality Rating System that recognizes and promotes best practices in early-care education programs.
