Career Exploration

This is typically a service provided for individuals who are not yet sure what type of job or vocational goal they have. Career Exploration may be followed up with other services to give the individual an opportunity to try out the positions to see if they are realistic in the chosen area.
Utilized to assist an individual in selecting an employment goal amongst several potential options. Career Exploration is intended to provide the individual job seeker and opportunity to interact and observe people performing tasks. This can be done by conducting informational interviews with people performing the duties of the identified occupation. The job seeker may also have the opportunity to job shadow and observe another individual performing the job tasks associated with the identified occupation.
Resources that may be utilized include information from the Labor Market Surveys, Interest Inventories, and O*NET.
