Work adjustments are used to teach work skills, improve work behaviors, and build upon communication and interpersonal skills. Experiences range in the duration of weeks of paid training in area of interest. This service focuses on ways of adjusting to the demands of the workplace and potential reasonable accommodations. Job Coaches monitor and identify solutions to any additional barriers to successful employment.
URS will provide the participant with an assessment at the start of the service to develop benchmarks and identify training goals. URS will work with the VRC (Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor) and the consumer to develop an objective and measurable rehabilitation plan. This plan will include expectations and responsibilities of the individual. The Work Adjustment may be used to facilitate learning of work skills, improve work behaviors, builds upon communication, interpersonal skills, and other vocational areas as identified by the VRC.
URS will include information on the work environment and job tasks including employer accepted performance standards. URS will also include an explanation of instructional techniques and interventions that were used to facilitate the learning and progress. Input from the individual on their vocational preferences and their physical and mental capability to perform the job are also included in the evaluation.
The outcome of the Work Adjustment is to prepare the individual for permanent competitive integrated employment.
