Kathy Scheier is a volunteer at United Rehabilitation Services, and she is truly one-in-a-million! We are so lucky to have Kathy as a volunteer at our organization and are happy to share that she is the United Way volunteer of the month!
July Community Volunteer of the Month
Kathy Schreier LIVES UNITED because “giving back makes me feel like a million dollars.” She volunteers at United Rehabilitation Services and United Way’s Volunteer Connection is proud to have Kathy as Community Volunteer of the Month for July.
Kathy has lived in the Dayton area her entire life. She has two children and takes care of her elderly father. In February, looking for a fresh volunteer opportunity, she went to Job and Family Services who directed her to URS and their volunteer coordinator Diane Osman. She now comes to URS three to four days a week, for five and six hours at a time. She works with adult clients, leads activities and even paints fingernails.
She has also inspired the volunteer spirit in others, such as acquaintances of her father, who see her on the constantly on the go (in the past, Kathy has been active with animal rescues and still participates at night with the Therapeutic Riding Institute).
Diane Osman says “All the clients here love her and miss her so much when she’s not around!” The feeling is mutual. Kathy says “I come here of my own free will, because everyone is so nice and everyone thanks you. They’re just that way.”
United Way’s Volunteer Connection is proud to have Kathy as our Community Volunteer of the Month for July.
